If you've ever caught yourself wondering, “How in the hell did *I* get in charge of all this mess? Who was taking a coffee break when they assigned this responsibility to me?” then you might find yourself reading this blog and saying, “ME TOO!”
I am a wife and mother to 5 children. I like to write about how my world-view has changed by parenting 5 children and being married to a man with a strong personality, much like my own. I write about everything from parenting issues, to the unexpected directions my marriage has taken, to current events (from the perspective of a conservative mom). And sometimes I just post pictures of my very adorable kids.

I have NO advice. I have the same problem! I would love to hear what people say.
I used to have a drawer like that. I don't know how much counter space you have, but here is what I did with my drawer.
I got one of these:

Everything that can go into it goes in it. I did leave a few of the things that didn't fit into it in the drawer, but it is much less crowded and easier to find things.
Great. I came to say I have no advice, then Missy has to go give us a link for help.
I figure, if I can't get the dang utensil out of the drawer, that's reason enough not to cook???
Yeah???
All my drawers look like this. I thought it was fine.
What are you trying to say??
Okay, okay. I do put small things & sharp things into little cheap-o plastic drawer baskets from Wal-Mart. Everything else is a jumble.
My most-used utensils are in a catch-pot on my kitchen counter. That helps a lot. Right now it has a pair of tongs, 3-4 spatulas that I use almost daily and a whisk or two. Also, inexplicably, a gravy ladle. But I need to take that out.
I have the things I use the post sitting on the counter in an old ironware coffee pot. For the other random stuff I bought a bunch of those drawer organizers in different sizes and put things in the appropriate sized box. Another thing I'm getting ready to do is go through the drawer and throw away (or garage sale) anything that I haven't used in the last year or two. I have some stuff that is just for particular meals, like at the holidays, that I need, but don't use all the time. I think I'm going to take that stuff and put it in a see through storage box and move it to my pantry to get it out of the way. Then I can just take it down when I need it.
And as an aside, I have that same pampered chef rolling thing. I love it.
I can't help you with this b/c I have 3 drawers that look just like that.
Sorry, I can offer no help. When you find out, I hope you post it so I can clean my things up too. I am off to read Missy's comment link.

PS I loved that you asked in a video. Now I feel like I really know you!
I have a junk drawer that I really need to get a handle on...HA!
I'll be back to see how yours turns out :)
Some utensils I have hanging on hooks under my spice shelf which looks fine. I also use a Longaberger basket on the counter for some of the more awkward things. I need to find a solution for all my plastic bowls and lids.
i have several "junk drawers" in my very small kitchen. i have resigned myself to the fact that they will probably always look junky. one piece of advice: i have cut down on a lot of stuff. do i need more than 2 spatulas? can i cut cheese w/ a knife instead of a special utensil, will i ever really use a meat thermometer. i realize i seldom need multiples of anything. hope this helps!
My gadget drawer is exactly the same... I'll have to check out that Pampered Chef thingy and hope that if I like it it's not to expensive...lol... and I really should take some of the advice and put my most used spoons and spatulas in something decorative on the counter. Unfortunately I will probably still have a jumbled gadget drawer anyway.
A Lil Enchanted,

Janie and Wendy's comments cracked me up. I too have the exact same problem and since I now know that everyone else does too I'm crossing it off my To-Do list. :D
LOL!
If you have counter space I got a cheap (Target) stoneware cylinder shaped container and I put all the tall things in there, spoons, spatula, whisk, potato masher, ladle, anything that has a long handle.
than I got a 3 pack of this white boxes with no slip liner, they are a make your own drawer organizer. I got them at Target cheap...I can't find them on the website but hey are by Oxo or rubbermaid. I have small (old 1926 cabinets) so I could only fit two in the drawer. But I have the small one at the front for the little things like measuring spoons, and one long ways for all the odd utensils, then there is a little room left over for some of the other odd things.
It's not necessarily organized, but it keeps everything from getting tangled up and sliding all over the place when I open the drawer. Since there is rubber in the bottom of the containers nothing slides which goes a long way in keeping things neat!
I have a big wide drawer like that with a little container on one side for pencils, batteries and whatnot. Usually the whatnot and pencils get scattered all over the drawer and mixed in with my spatulas and other utinsels.
Every once in a while, I'll have one of the kids weed out all the pens and pencils and get them in another drawer where they belong.
I did pull all my wooden spoons and my wisks out and they're cute enough to grace the counter space in a jar like thing. They look good there.
But in the meanwhile, the reset in my drawer look a lot like yours.
Oh - but when we do go thru it periodically, I'll get rid of some things that we just DON'T use.
Wait, I thought EVERY house was supposed to have at least one, usually at least two or three, of those junk drawers. You have put me in a panic! hee hee. I am no help
Mama B's answer is closest to mine - I have two crocks on or near the stove and my main gadget drawer has two small plastic boxes & no-slip stuff to keep things sorted.
I'm sending you pictures.
Things I use all the time (like spatulas, stirring spoons) go in a can on the counter--it's a tall cookie canister, actually. Things that cut, like knives, pizza cutters, kitchen scissors, go in their own drawer. And then I have a devilish little drawer like yours with can opener, melon baller, lemon zester, yada yada yada. And it always winds up with a stray knife that doesn't belong...so, no. No advice for you, alas.
